Our little Kade decided to wait for daddy to get home before he started the birthing process. His birth was highlighted by his mom's amazing strength, beauty and grace as she brought him into our world.
It was 9am on March 1st and Mommy and Daddy knew we needed a bit of help in getting Kade moving. Sarah's water had broken some 35 hours earlier so we had to induce. Things started slow, but we were encouraged by regular contractions. By 10:30am her cervix was barely dialated, but was thinning out nicely. The 'fun' would soon begin.
We took a few walks and were starting to get contractions that took mommy's breath away. Another good sign. We decided to take a warm bath to help mommy stay as comfortable as possible. We spoke with Diane (our cousin and photographer) and said we hoped Kade would be here late in the evening. We were way off on that thought. Our first contraction in the bath was almost pain free, but the next 2.5 hours more than made up for it.
The pain got intense and the contractions were regular with almost no break in between. Mom got out of the bath and our next exam at 1pm showed she was 5 centimeters, time to call Diane and Grandma Shomion.
Sarah remained strong as contractions lengthened and were right on top of each other. She always returned to her yogic breath. She was having second thoughts about going with no pain medication, in fact she suggested that we get an epidural ready. 30 minutes after she was 5 centimeters dialated she made it all the way to 10! Wow! So much progress so fast. No time for pain medication now.
At this point my beautiful wife got into the zone. Unbelievable focus and strength. Push...breathe...push...breathe...push. By 2:30pm we were almost there and after 4 pushes on a single breathe Kade was born at 2:39pm. Grandma Shomion made it just in time to see the birth and daddy cutting the cord. Kade was a few weeks early, but is making great progress as we look forward to getting him home as soon as possible. We love you Kade.

Thot I'd planned my trip to Mexico with plenty of time to be back for your birth, but when I saw the last pics of mommy in your room, sent by grandpa Waite, she'd dropped a lot,so I had a feeling you might come a bit early, but didn't imagine a whole month !
At the beach I had a 'feeling',and returned to the news of your birth .What joy and excitement !The whole Island knew!
I've called every day to see how you and mommy are doing, and was so happy to hear you'll be leaving the hospital soon and are doing so well.Proud of you all.
